There is a thread that ties the land to contemporary vision at SettimoMiglio, the farm run by Roberto Moncalvo and his sister Daniela. An engineer by training, Roberto returned to his family roots after his mother died in 2005, and at the age of just 33 he became the youngest national president ever of Coldiretti, the Italian Farmers’ Organisation, an experience he exploits to manage the farm ethically, with a modern approach. On their 20 hectares of land they grow organic seasonal vegetables and heritage grain varieties such as Timilia and San Pastore, and they dedicate special attention to the 550 egg-laying hens they raise in a converted barn.
Since 2020 the farm bakery has produced naturally leavened bread (SettimoMiglio, timilia, mediterraneo, pane della salute) and vegetarian dishes – croquettes, hummus and pies – to make the most of the harvest and reduce waste. The farm is the pivot of the so-called Mindful Farmers’ Cooperative formed in 2011, and since 2025 also an Agricultural Social Cooperative which integrates the fragile in the world of work. It is possible to buy its vegetables, strawberries, eggs and deli products at the farm shop, as well as at Campagna Amica markets and the various Sunday street markets in Turin.
