Franco Garelli, the owner of this lovely chocolate shop, used worked in pharmaceuticals. Then he decided to make a like change and took over the historic Monteccone shop and began producing gianduiotti, cremini (miniature chocolate sandwiches), pralines and other goodies. There are several variants on the gianduiotto, the Turinese chocolate by definition: from the traditional version with chocolate and hazelnut, plain, miniatures (very fashionable in recent years), and spicy chili-flavoured. The truffles also come in a number of different and exciting flavours: we recommend the genepy liqueur, the rum and the bergamot. For the little ones there are chocolate sculptures in the shape of tools (spanners, saws, hammers and pliers), while Garelli has also come up with a fun product for adults, too: chocolate footballs with surprises inside. The standard range comes in the colours of Juventus or Torino, but other teams’ colours are also available on request. It’s an amusing idea, designed to make the classic Easter egg an egg for all seasons.
