The history of this establishment is told by its smiling, chubby terracotta cook symbol. In 1926, in fact, when Alberto Rosada and his wife Tommasina opened their grocery shop with a cold cuts and deli counter, Alberto’s former boss gave him the cook as a lucky mascot in the new venture. It has obviously worked as now, almost a century on, the place is still run by the same family. Today it’s Mauro Rosada, son of Alberto’s son Renato, is carrying on the quality fine food tradition with Alessandra Fiore. The most popular items at this typically Piedmontese shop are the traditional local dishes: hence insalata russa (Russian salad), vitello tonnato, bonet (set chocolate, hazelnut and amaretti custard), fricandò (veal stewed in red wine) and, above all, an ancient recipe of tuna, mayonnaise, carrots, potatoes and gherkins in aspic.
