This important historic winery in the rolling hills near San Giorgio Canavese is run by Remo Falconieri, his daughter and his business partner Domenico Caretto. It seeks to produce increasingly interesting wines with great attention to the environment and is now finalising organic certification procedures. The grape it uses the most is certainly erbaluce in all its different vinifications: from standard Erbaluce to Cru Vigna Misobolo the new Ingenuus, produced naturally without selected yeasts and technology. Moving on to the spumantes, the excellent San Giorgio is characterised by its fragrance, Calliope Brut is a Metodo Classico Riserva aged for a minimum of 48 months, and Nature rests on the skins for up to 48 months. Last of the list is the Brut Rosè. The spumantes are without doubt the winery’s flagship products, but other standouts are the splendid Alladium (Caluso Passito) and the Riserva, aged for at least ten years and characterised by wonderful fragrances and pleasant acidity – altogether a truly special wine.
The winery organises visits and is open from Monday to Saturday from 9am to 12 midday and 3pm to 6pm.
