The bakery created by Bruna Milanesio, which she runs today with the collaboration of his son Francesco, boasts two flagship items: nocciolini and hazelnut tart, rechristened by Bruna as chivassini and chivassina respectively. The storied chivassini, created by confectioner Giovanni Podio back in 1850, come in characteristic and distinctive pink bags with blue characters, are now a symbol of Chivasso. The ingredients couldn’t be simpler: sugar, egg white and Piedmontese halzelnuts. The appearance is inviting: that of miniscule amaretti. The chivassina is also available in a delicious version with chocolate chips.
The shop also sells other traditional Piedmontese confections such as canestrelli biscuits, cornmeal biscuits and krumiri, typical ridged cookies, all top quality and ideal for gift baskets. Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 1pm and 3pm to 6pm.
