Giorgio Gnavi is the spiritual heir to his Uncle Carlo, the man who made this Caluso cellar famous. Gnavi now brings together a group of young Canavese wine-dressers and is run by Giorgio with passion and professionalism. Its products respond to its time-honoured criteria of sustainability and fine quality. The wine production is supplemented by a limited production of vermouth, gin and an aperitif, Carlo Magno. All the cellar’s excellent wines may be sampled in the new tasting room in the courtyard. They include: a standard still Caluso DOCG (the classic Cav. Giovanni), Vigna Crava, aged 18 months, a testimony to Erbaluce’s aging potential, spumantes such as Turbante, a Pas Dosè and a Brut, the charming sparkling rosé Petronilla, made with the classic local red grapes, and Caluso Passito Revej, aged for at least ten years in concrete tanks. The company organises cellar visits and events in the vineyards, especially the Crava vineyard where a giant bench has been installed to offer a view over the vines and their traditional erbaluce pergolas.
