Rajan Craveri and Serena Zanconato made a life choice: to work and live with the bees in the woods round Rubiana at an altitude of 900 metres. They took up the activity as a hobby in 2012 and turned it into a full-time job in 2018. The work they do is prevalently manual and aims to conserve the sensory properties of the nectar as well as possible.
Other than Rubiana, the hives are scattered among the woods round Caprie, Villardora, Avigliana and the mountains above Giaveno. The honeys are the ones typical of the local area, from wild flower of Rubiana to lime, chestnut, wild cherry, bramble and acacia. Special attention is paid to biodiversity and the climate, and in the event of problems with the hives they use only natural substances.
Rajan and Serena practise a limited amount of nomadism to produce high-altitude mountain honey. The product range is completed with Valsusina, a honey cream with hazelnuts, cocoa from Ecuador or Sicilian almonds, and an interesting chocolate bar made with 65% stone-ground single origin cocoa from Ecuador and sweetened with honey. Products are sold either directly or by home-delivery.
