In 2024 the brewery celebrated its tenth anniversary and Monica Castagnero (the owner) and Mattia Soster (her partner in business and in life) have never stopped working since it first opened. And their production has improved in quality as a result. The fact that many of the ingredients used (such as the cereals) are home-grown makes this an “agricultural brewery”. After studying as a brewmaster at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo (Unisg), Mattia began brewing traditional styles of beer with a personal touch.
The standard range, which consists of beers named by alphanumeric abbreviations, improves year by year. It is completed by more modern beers produced on a rotation basis with select and unusual ingredients. They include: Hip-Hip-Apa, made with American hops; Brln Kuss, a Berliner Weisse flavoured with raspberries; the new version of H-Iga, made with Trappist yeast and dolcetto grape must; French Kiss, with lemons and Sichuan pepper; the prize-winning Total Eclipse, a stout – in this case with added cocoa and amaretti biscuits – conditioned in rum barrels; and Old River Bretney Peach, a new barrel-aged sour beer with peach purée and Brett yeasts.
