Matteo, an Architecture graduate, is a huge beer fan. He began as a homebrewer and in 2016 established his own firm under the Filodilana trademark. After making his first brews externally, in 2019 he eventually opened his own brewery in the lower Susa Valley. His team is made up of Sara Pognante and Giorgio Masera in the production department and Alex Rampini, responsible for sales.

The name of the brewery symbolises its aim of offering high-quality products and is inspired by the old tradition whereby the winner of race would break a thread of wool (filo di lana) at the finishing line. The production is based on rigorous selection of ingredients, many of which, such as coffee, fruit and grape must, with close ties to Piedmont.

The product range consists of ten or so labels. The standouts are without doubt the two Italian grape ales made with grape must from the cantina Castelvej cellar, Quattro Pere, made with martin sec pears, and Lilly, a blanche made with Piedmontese nectarines and wild flower honey.
