Borgiattino is a minor dairy institution in Turin: anyone looking for a good cheese – maybe a bit special, a bit different from the usual – will have popped in at least once. And the selection is indeed immense: on display behind the counter are dozens and dozens of different products from Italy (and beyond).  Different types of toma, caciotta and caprino, plus rarer cheeses such as Montebore and Bettelmatt. Luciano Guidotti, the long-serving owner, is the right person to ask for guidance through the least familiar and most unusual dairy products. His knowledge is the fruit of more than 20 years of experience and he guides his staff and offers customers suggestions with consummate skill. A couple of years ago the shop moved to larger, more modern and brighter premises where the impressively stocked cheese counter has been supplemented by a deli corner and a small eatery. In both cases, the menu is varied with a particular eye to the Piedmontese tradition (antipasti, stuffed pasta and, of course, cheeses, rich selections of which may be sampled with aperitifs).
