Farinel on the road came into being as a food truck at village fetes and fairs. Marco and Ale formed a happy team and, a little at a time, proved so good at the job that they decided to open a place of their own in a lovely area among the balmetti, natural cellars, near Borgofranco d’Ivrea. It consists of two courtyards with food trucks serving all their specialities. Here you can savour miasse, flatbread typical of the Canavese district cooked on red-hot irons, and delicious bumper panini made with local rustic bread. Both miasse and panini are filled with local charcuterie and cheese, raw veal and anchovies with parsley and garlic sauce, all accompanied by Bavarian beer. The courtyards are fitted out with large tents and the atmosphere is reminiscent of that of a German beer garden. The finest local produce supplied by the many small farmers working in the area make this a gem of a place to visit. Farinel, which is closed in winter, opens every evening from Thurdsay to Sunday and at lunchtime during weekends.
