After travelling the world, from the Mediterranean, Africa and America, Giulia Guastella gave in and responded to the call of her Susa Valley origins and returned to Borgone di Susa. In 2019 her dream of opening an ice cream parlour and workshop of her own came true. It’s situated on the Susa-bound state highway 25 and much of the produce used comes from the valley itself, including that of a number of other Masters of Taste. Giulia makes her ice cream with the finest ingredients, such as milk from a local farm, organic eggs and fresh fruit, all exclusively seasonal. The classics we particularly recommend are the plain chocolate and hazelnut, and our favourite original flavours are the ones made with canestrelli di Vaie and cornmeal biscuits. The range is rounded off by an impressive collection of cakes and semifreddos, Giulia attaches special importance to sustainability and has lost none of her wander lust. It’s easy to run into her, in fact, in the various Susa Valley fairs and street markets, where you can’t miss her blue and white Apecar-cum-ice cream van.
