After years spent working at his family’s bar-trattoria, Piercarlo Cotterchio opened this gelateria in one of the main streets in the centre of Orbassano.
Right from the outset, his philosophy has been to attach a great deal of importance to sustainability, hence his use of seasonal products and collaboration with small businesses, reserving special treatment for vegan customers and reducing waste, especially that of water.
In addition to traditional flavours, Piercarlo also offers unusual ones such as Super Pippo (with peanuts), Torta di Piero (cornmeal, stracciatella and black cherry), Fata Morgana (saffron and pistachio cream), dedicated to his niece, and Mulino d’Arte (mixed pralines), dedicated to a pioneering dramatic society whose actors produce energy by pedaling on stage during performances. All flavours are also available in semifreddo and iced cake versions. In autumn there’s also a red celery (Slow Food Presidium) flavour.
Interest is now growing for the granitas, which come in all the classic Sicilian flavours – hence pistachio, almond, lemon – and are served with the traditional brioscia con il tuppo bun. Always open.
