Diego and Franca Trompetto established this farm in Bienca, a small outlying hamlet of Chiaverano in 2001, converting the old farmhouse and rendering the neglected land fertile and productive area. In the early years they devoted themselves to salvaging the abandoned terraces, planting blueberries, raspberries and vines. They began producing wine in 2003 and with the first bottles came further expansion of the vineyards. In 2007, after graduating in Agriculture and studying Viticulture and Oenology, their son Matteo joined the farm management. In 2010 the farm opened a shop near cellar and workshop and three tears later it renewed the oldest vinetards with the introduction of traditional grape varieties. The wine cellar was extended in 2016 and two years later expanded in a balmetto, or natural cellar, to age the wines in an environment with a constant temperature. Terre Sparse produces different types of Erbaluce, Canavese Rosso (Frenesia made with freisa grapes) and Nebbiolo, as well as two rosés made with uva rara grapes.
Wines may be bought online, by appointment, or at the shop in Borgofranco d’Ivrea during the summer merenda sinoira, or afternoon snack, at which typical local food products are served.
Thursday and Friday from 3pm to 7.30pm.
