Vermouth first appeared in Turin in 1786 and Drapò came into being to promote the city’s wine and spirits tradition in 2012. The name of the company, from the French drapeau, is a homage to one of Italy’s oldest flags, that of Piedmont, of which Turin is the capital. Its vermouth comes in Rosso, Bianco, Dry, Rosé and Gran Riserva versions, and is made with Cortese white wine, regionally grown wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) and various botanicals (including tree bark, herbs, roots and citrus-flavoured spices). All Drapò vermouths rest for at least five months in steel vats, while the Gran Riserva ages for another eight months in French oak casks to strengthen its structure and body and give it aromas of old wood and an intense, long-lasting flavour on the palate. Gin Balon, Gin & P, Barolo Chinato and Bitter Tuvè complete the company’s range.
