The farm was born in the 1970s of the fusion of the Cravero family, active in the dairy business, and the Frola family, specialised in Piedmontese beef cattle breeding. Today it’s sisters Laura and Maria Rita who run the enterprise with their brother Diego, responsible for the land and livestock management. The farm shop (open every Thursday and Friday from 3pm to 8pm) is right in the middle of the small dairy and meat processing workshop. A few metres away are the byres where the cattle (50 Piedmontese and 60 Friesians) and 50 or so pigs are kept. The farm has 30 hectares of land, which is given over mainly to forage and cereals, which serve as fodder for the animals, which are butchered directly on the farm. Specialities range from cheeses and dairy products such as Canavese toma (tuma verda ‘d Montanér, a version flavoured with chili and another with chives), crescenza, ricotta, yoghurt and creamy desserts to charcuterie such as salampatata (potato salami) and ham (cooked at low temperatures without preservatives). The farm sells its produce at the street markets of the Basso Canavese district and at the Campagna Amica markets in Turin.
